It is not known how many users out there use the Google Toolbar, but the authors believe that they number in the millions. Google can track the entire web surfing behavior of these users. Even though it is not a surefire indicator of ranking potential, I still hold that it is important to first look at competitor’s DA when starting your SEO analysis. In my opinion this will allow you to gain at least some initial visibility into your ranking potential. Chances are good your site already has some evergreen articles, whether you intended to make them evergreen or not. Do not use paid links because this is against some search engines' policy and could even result in penalties and in extreme cases get your website banned from that search engine altogether. The exception to this rule of course is through a search engine's paid keyword advertising called Pay Per Click, the search engine's primary source of income.

Always keep an eye on your competitors. Find out what keywords they optimize their websites for and monitor their rankings along with yours.
